Black and White Film Photography

“Black and white film photography evokes a classic, ageless look that never goes out of style. Without color, black and white photography highlights contrasts, tones, and textures, often leading to a more profound emotional connection. Each photograph is a distinct creation, influenced by the manual decisions you need to make, the scene lighting, and film type, creating a one-of-a-kind art piece, which is what I strive to do.”

All of my film photographs are shot on vintage cameras from the 30’s to the 80’s. I develop my negatives and print to conservation grade fine art textured cotton papers by Hahnemühle using Canon pigmented inks. Each print is treated with Hahnemühle protection spray.

I use museum-grade framing. The frames are handmade in the U.S. using Italian and US molding, conservation matting, conservation backboard, and museum-grade shatterproof UV protection acrylic with anti-reflection, anti-static, anti-abrasion, and 99% UV protection. The acrylic is Optium Museum® by Tru Vue. This acrylic is superb protection and looks stunning on a framed print. Some of the frames will use Acrylite conservation-grade UV non-glare acrylic which is a very good yet cheaper alternative. The protection applied to the print and used in the framing will ensure that your piece will last and look great for a very long time.

I prefer to sell my pieces framed but I do offer non-framed prints. I rarely crop my images so the only sizes I currently sell that fit common picture frames are 6x9, 10x15, and 12x18.

For the framed prints, I custom frame each piece individually as to me the framing is part of the creative process. I print most of my photographs to the same ratio as the actual film negative so they are custom framed to fit the print.

For the non-frame numbered prints, I ship the 12x18 flat in boxes with acid-free paper and the 6x9 and 10x15 in flat rigid cardboard mailers with acid-free paper so they arrive ready to mount. Each print is signed and includes a standard certificate of authenticity.

Each numbered framed piece is signed and includes a Hahnemühle certificate of authenticity with a watermark, fluorescent security fibers, and matching numbered holograms on the certificate and the photograph. I ship them in custom packaging as protective as I can and insure for the full amount paid.
